INTUC, one of the 10 central trade unions, is participating in a nationwide strike on May 20, 2025, opposing the government's plans to unilaterally implement new labour codes that threaten workers’ rights and weaken collective bargaining.

INTUC organized a training programme in Telangana on the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work to raise awareness about labour rights, safety standards, and the need for formal protections for gig workers. The event included occupational safety training and discussions on integrating gig workers into mainstream labour rights frameworks.

On April 5, 2025, protesting ASHA workers accused INTUC of betraying their interests by allegedly pressurizing them to accept a committee proposal to examine their demands, a move the trade union denies. The protest has continued for 55 days with workers demanding higher honorarium and retirement benefits.

At its 33rd plenary session in New Delhi, INTUC called on the Congress party to rethink the economic policies pursued since 1991. The union criticized neoliberal reforms—including increased foreign direct investment, privatization, and reduced labor law enforcement—that have negatively impacted workers. INTUC advocates a return to the Nehruvian model of a mixed economy to better protect labor rights and enhance social welfare.

Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy, chairman of INTUC, sent a joint letter to the ILO urging the inclusion of the Indian government's violations of workers' rights in the agenda of the 111th International Labour Conference. The letter highlights concerns over recent labour laws that weaken worker protections by excluding smaller employers and extending working hours.
