The project is highlighted as a key infrastructure achievement in the nation’s energy sector.

On June 19, 2024, the Canadian Energy Regulator issued a warning letter to Alliance Pipeline Ltd. and two contractors for unsafe work practices following a near-miss incident in March 2023. The incident involved a contractor installing steel piles too close to an operating high-pressure natural gas pipeline, violating Onshore Pipeline Regulations and Damage Prevention Regulations.

Alliance Pipeline L.P. sought to compel arbitration for the majority of plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit over pipeline easement agreements. The Eighth Circuit partially affirmed and reversed the district court decision, effectively dismissing claims for arbitration-covered plaintiffs while allowing others to proceed in court.

The Canada Energy Regulator completed its audit close-out letter for Alliance Pipeline after verifying that the company had fully implemented its Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Plan to address prior non-compliance issues related to its Integrity Management Program. The audit, originally initiated following concerns about management system processes, confirmed that Alliance Pipeline is maintaining regulatory compliance.
