IDRA's chief legal analyst, Paige Duggins-Clay, criticized the Cypress-Fairbanks school board's decision to remove textbook chapters on diversity, arguing that such actions undermine inclusive education and harm marginalized students.

IDRA reaffirms its long-standing commitment to equal educational opportunity through robust policy advocacy, coalition building, and legal support aimed at challenging censorship laws and anti-DEI efforts that disproportionately affect marginalized communities.

IDRA has been awarded a three-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to operate the South Central Collaborative for Equity, which provides technical assistance, training, and resources to schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas to address issues of racial, gender, and national origin inequities.

IDRA, through its Southern Education Equity Network, released advocacy guidance emphasizing the need for fully and equitably funded public schools, opposing classroom censorship and stressing the importance of teaching both national achievements and mistakes to ensure a well-rounded education for all students.

In April 2000, IDRA’s South Central Collaborative for Equity held its annual focus group and work session in Region VI, bringing together educators, state officials, and community representatives to discuss persistent challenges in educational equity related to race, gender, and national origin, and to explore technological solutions for bridging the digital divide in schools.
