Visvesvaraya Technological University has integrated Indian Knowledge Systems into its engineering courses following UGC guidelines. This move, aimed at introducing ancient Indian cultural content such as Vedic maths, Ramayana, and Mahabharata into academia, has sparked significant opposition from academics and progressive groups who argue that it propagates a Hindutva, Brahmin-centric agenda that could undermine scientific temper and pluralistic education.

Two lawyers have filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta against VTU’s vice-chancellor and registrar, alleging that crores of rupees were released in violation of university norms, including major financial decisions made close to the vice-chancellor's retirement.
