In a Dutch class action initiated by the Ukrainian Victims of War Foundation, Prosus was held accountable for allowing its Russian subsidiary, Avito, to publish military recruitment advertisements. On 15 July 2022, the District Court of Amsterdam deemed these ads illegal under international human rights law. Although the company later exited its Russian business and sold its shares in Avito, the incident raised serious concerns about its corporate duty of care in preventing human rights violations.
